Regulation and Scope of Practice of Certified Prevention Specialists (CPS) and Regulation and Scope of Practice of Licensed and Certified Pastoral Counselors

Project Description

This study will develop 50-state databases of credentialing, licensure, and scope of practice regulations for Certified Prevention Specialists and for pastoral counselors, drawing on licensing boards, administrative codes, and stakeholder interviews. Findings will clarify how variation in credentialing and Medicaid reimbursement policy affects the ability of these two underutilized workforces, potentially including other faith-based counselors, to contribute to behavioral health service delivery.
